SCARBOROUGH — Police said a man who accidentally shot himself Dec. 7 at the Scarborough Fish & Game Club was still able to call and tell them where to find him.

Club member Everett Boynton, 77, accidentally shot himself in the abdomen with a .22 caliber handgun. He called for help around 10:55 a.m.

Police Department Sgt. Rick Rouse said Boynton was alone at the 79 Holmes Road shooting range, but was able to describe his whereabouts.

Boynton was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where officials Wednesday said he was still a patient, but declined to disclose his condition.
