SCARBOROUGH — Local philanthropist Eddie Woodin’s challenge to keep local residents warm through help from Project GRACE will be made during the Saturday, Feb. 8 “Rally to Keep Our Neighbors Warm” at the Oak Hill Fire Station from 9 a.m. to noon.
Woodin has pledged $2,000 if the community raises an additional $10,000 for the organization’s fuel assistance fund. To help spur contributions, the fire station will host an open house featuring raffles, a bake sale, story time for children, and tips on weatherization and pet safety in winter months.
Project GRACE, an acronym for Granting Resources and Assistance through Community Efforts, is a nonprofit, non-denominational organization of volunteers providing assistance to needy individuals and families. It has raised about $10,000 for its fuel assistance fund so far this year, and distributed about $45,000 in fuel assistance last winter.
