6/27 at 9:53 p.m. Joshua M.T. Howell, 19, of South Portland, was summonsed on Church Street by Officer Andrew Flynn on a charge of operating when a license was suspended or revoked.
6/27 at 10:01 p.m. Mark St. John, 28, of Portland, was summonsed on Route 1 by Officer Shawn Anastasoff on a charge of possession of marijuana.
Helping self to self check-out cash
6/23 at 1:35 p.m. Police investigated a string of cash thefts from the self check-out register at Hannaford Supermarket totalling $9,194. The suspect, an employee of a vendor the supermarket uses, was reportedly caught on video at least five times taking cash from the register with a key. Charges are pending.
6/24 at 3:25 p.m. A community service worker reported vandalism at the skate park where obscenities were scratched into the fresh paint on the side of the ramps. The employee reportedly told police he had taken the names of two young girls caught several days earlier scratching obscene messages in response to what other girls had scratched into the paint about them. The estimated cost of repainting with the epoxy paint is $700.
From Day of Destruction to road rage
6/25 at 10:24 p.m. Police responded to a call from a woman who stated that a vehicle repeatedly tapped her back bumper while she was driving on Holmes Road. The woman told police she pulled over in the CitySide Auto Sales driveway and that the driver followed her, jumped out of his car and punched her in the side of her head. She was reportedly unable to provide a description of the attacker and was not sure whether the vehicle was a car or a truck. Her family, who reportedly arrived on the scene later, told police they were coming from the Beech Ridge Speedway Day of Destruction, and that the attacker was probably someone from there. Police do not currently have any leads.
