SCARBOROUGH — For any Scarborough resident who intends to run for municipal office, nomination papers are available at the town clerk’s office.

Elections will be held for two, three-year Town Council seats, three, three-year Board of Education seats and two, three-year Sanitary District seats.

Councilors Carol Rancourt and Richard Sullivan are both finishing their three-year terms. Rancourt has served six consecutive years and can run for one more three-year consecutive term; Sullivan is coming off his first three years and may serve two additional consecutive terms.

On the School Board, Jackie Perry, Annalee Rosenblatt and Jane Wiseman are all completing their terms. Perry, who filled the remainder of the term of a vacated seat, is eligible to serve for three consecutive terms; Rosenblatt and Wiseman are each eligible to serve six more consecutive years.

Scarborough Sanitary District members Ben Viola and Nick Rico are both completing their terms. Because there are no term limits for Sanitary District members, both are eligible to run again.

Scarborough nomination papers require 25 signatures and limit signatures to 100 but Town Clerk Tody Justice said she recommends candidates obtain a few extras. The papers are due back at Town Hall at the close of business on Wednesday, Sept. 2.

The election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3.
