PORTLAND — A Scarborough man was being held Thursday on $25,000 cash bail at Cumberland County Jail, facing burglary and drug charges after his arrest Tuesday by city police.

Lt. James Sweatt said Shane Cook, 23, whose home address was not released, was charged with Class C burglary and Class B theft in connection with a burglary at a Riverside Street business sometime during the night of Feb. 19 or early morning of Feb. 20.

After his arrest at his workplace in Westbrook, Cook was allegedly found in possession of a drug suspected to be heroin, leading to an additional charge of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, Sweatt said.

Business owners reported the loss of equipment and a laptop computer, all valued at $9,000. Included was an air wrench worth $3,000. Sweatt said detectives recovered all the stolen items at an unidentified pawn shop.
