SCARBOROUGH — A parade and kid’s Fun Run at Pine Point during the day will be followed by fireworks at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway at night on Independence Day.
Free registration for the kid’s Fun Run on July 4 will be from 8-8:30 a.m. at the Fire Station at 12 King St. Children ages 3-14 can participate.
The race of less than half a mile begins at the fire station and ends at Hurd Park, at the corner of Avenue 5 and King Street. The winner of the race will have the chance to lead the parade, which will start when the race concludes
Prizes will be given to the best dressed person, best dressed dog, and best decorated wagon.
The parade path will lead back to the fire station, where free strawberry shortcake will be served.
At 9 p.m. Saturday, July 4, fireworks will begin at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, 70 Holmes Road. Residents can also view the fireworks from the municipal landfill, at 48 Holmes Road.
