SCARBOROUGH — High school student Francesca Sustis is hosting an American Red Cross Leaders Save Lives blood drive Wednesday, Jan. 3, from noon-6 p.m. at Scarborough High School.
The Leaders Save Lives program encourages community-minded high school and college students to host blood drives. Sustis volunteered at the Red Cross blood donation center in Portland last summer.
“I met so many amazing people working at the blood donation center,” Sustis said in a press release Thursday. “I encourage the Scarborough community to roll up a sleeve and give blood at our upcoming event. Donating blood is an easy way to volunteer, and it helps patients in need this winter.”
Donation appointments may be made by visiting redcrossblood.org or calling 1-800-REDCROSS. A blood donor card or driver’s license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.
