SCARBOROUGH — Police are investigating a reported case of vandalism at a local firearms and ammunition store.
The owner of Maine Police and Fire at 715 Route 1 called police on Monday, July 26, after discovering that the rear door of the building had been forced open and the inside of the business was trashed.
The walls, doors, and merchandise were painted with messages about killing animals, according to a Police Department press release. A television and glass display cases were smashed and blue paint was poured over several guns and cross bows.
Damage was estimated at $60,000 to $75,000 and the business will remain closed until Tuesday, Aug. 3.
