SCARBOROUGH — The board of education will meet Thursday, June 21 in executive session to discuss Superintendent Julie Kukenberger’s contract.

The board will meet at 7 p.m. at the municipal building on Route 1. According to the agenda, a motion will be taken to go into executive session “for discussions concerning the Superintendent’s contract/evaluation, not to return to public session.”

The board must hold a public meeting to vote on issues discussed during an executive session.

Kukenberger was hired by the district in 2016, but there has been a recent vocal contingent in town seeking to oust the superintendent based on criticism of her leadership, focusing on the forced resignation of Scarborough High School Principal David Creech and changing school start times.

Three board of education members, Jodi Shea, Donna Beeley, and Cari Lyford, were recalled in May, accused of incompetence, and following the vote, Kukenberger was called on to resign by supporters of that movement.
