PORTLAND — Sanjay Prakash Choolani, 25, of Portland, died Sept. 4. He was born in the city on July 21, 1989, a son of Prakash and Jyoti Choolani.
He graduated from Deering High School, with top honors, in 2008. He continued his education at Bryant University in Rhode Island, earning a bachelor’s degree in economics in 2012.
Choolani took pride in working alongside his parents in their family business, Peter Renney’s Fashions, on Exchange Street in the Old Port. He was known for spending his time trying to help the people he loved through his words and actions. One of his favorite quotations was from the Bhagavad Gita: “You need not have any regrets for the past. You need not worry for the future. The present is happening.”
He is survived by his parents, Prakash and Jyoti Choolani, and his two sisters, Neenu and Megha Choolani.
Visitation for family and friends was scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 4-7 p.m., at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland.
