PORTLAND — Sandra Valladares, nee Smith, 71, died suddenly on March 21.

She was born in Portland on December 4, 1940, to Ole and Anastasia Christiensen. She attended Portland schools and graduated from Portland High School.

Valladares was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She was known by everyone as “Ma” – or “G.G.” to her great-grandchildren. She raised three children, and while she worked several jobs, her real career was as a homemaker and mother; Her true love was her family.

She was predeceased by her parents and by her longtime companion, Russell Jordan.

She is survived by her sister, Sonja Dahlin, of Portland; children Michelle Wilds and her husband, Mark, of Sanford, Michael Smith and his fiance, Elizabeth, of Standish and Kathleen McDonald and her husband, John, of Windham; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her niece, Margaret Dahlin; and ex-husband and life-long friend, Russell Smith and his companion, Marlaine.

A celebration of her life was held at the Westbrook Eagles Club on March 31.
