BATH — Sagadahoc County has launched a program to help residents with the cost of prescription drugs.

The free Prescription Discount Card program offers an average savings of 24 percent off the retail price of prescription medications, according to the county Emergency Management Agency and Board of Health.

Those who do not have insurance or who have prescriptions not covered by insurance can use the card. It can be used for some pet medications and will be accepted at 90 percent of pharmacies throughout the region.

The cards may be used by all county residents, regardless of income, age or existing health coverage. They are available at the EMA/BOH office at 752 High St., or by calling 443-8211. People can also e-mail their card request to sagema@sagcounty.com. The cards can also be printed from the Internet at caremark.com/naco.
