SCARBOROUGH — A Saco man has a March 12 court date in Cumberland County Unified Criminal docket in Portland after his arrest Friday, Jan. 11, for allegedly spying on shoppers at Walmart.

William Tibbals, 31, of 27 Pepperell St. in Saco, was charged by police with one count of visual sexual aggression against a child under 12 and multiple counts of violation of privacy.

Tibbals allegedly attached a digital camera to his shoe last July 16 and took photos up and under the skirts and dresses of adult women and at least one child at the store on Gallery Boulevard.

Tibbals was arrested after a six-month investigation by Scarborough police detectives, the Saco Police Computer Forensics Unit and the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit. He is now free on $500 bail, according to court clerks and officials at Cumberland County Jail in Portland.
