FREEPORT — Nomination papers for the Nov. 6 municipal election will be available July 30-Sept. 12.

Town Council District 4 and at-large seats are on the ballot, along with three seats on the Regional School Unit 5 Board of Directors – two of which are two-year terms and one a one-year term, three on the Sewer District Board of Trustees, and one on the Water District Board of Trustees.

At-large Councilor Melanie Sachs on July 17 said she would not be seeking re-election.

“I pledged two terms and I stick to my word,” Sachs said. “… I’ve had the time of my life.”

Candidates for the at-large council seat must gather 100 signatures; 50 are required of candidates in District 4, now represented by Councilor Lee Arris, who could not be reached.

On the School Board, terms are expiring for Jeremy Clough and John Morang; 100 signatures are required for candidates to be on the ballot.

Morang said on July 19 that he plans to run for re-election; Clough could not be reached.

Nomination papers can be picked up at the Town Clerk’s office and must be returned with the required signatures no later than 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12.
