There will be a special election on Tuesday, Jan. 27, to elect a new trustee to represent South Portland and Cape Elizabeth on the Portland Water District Board of Trustees.
The election is being held to complete the unexpired term of Gary Larsen, who died in September at the age of 58. Larsen, whose term would have expired in November, served as a trustee for the last 14 years.
Mark Duval, 51, of Cape Elizabeth, is the only candidate. Duval, who owns and operates Duval’s Service Center and Roundstone Realty Group in South Portland, previously served on the PWD board from 1996-2001. He is married, with two children in college.
South Portland residents vote the South Portland Community Center, 21 Nelson Road, between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Cape Elizabeth residents vote in Room 102 of Cape Elizabeth High School.
Absentee ballots are available from the clerk’s offices in both communities.
