SOUTH PORTLAND — South Portland’s 7th annual Christmas Toy Drive has kicked off with donations being accepted at five locations in town.

New, unwrapped toys and/or donations for a child in need can be brought to Evelyn’s Tavern at 121 Sawyer St.; Maine Roofing, Inc. at 24 Bishop Ave.; Part Harbor Marine at 1 Spring Point Drive; Local Acapulco at 340 Main St.; and Peoples United Bank at Mill Creek.

Toys can also be brought to the annual Toy Drive Party on Saturday, Dec. 8 beginning at 6 p.m. at Evelyn’s Tavern.

Businesses, groups or individuals can also “adopt families” by specifying how many children in a family they would like to buy a coat, boots and some toys for.

The deadline for tax-deductible donations is Friday, Dec. 7.

The drive is being run in conjunction with the South Portland school and police departments and the South Portland Police Patrolmen’s Association.

Check donations can be made out to the SPPP Community Needs Fund and mailed to Maine Roofing, Inc.

According to a news release from Maine Roofing, Inc., the toy drive helped over 200 South Portland children with toys, boots and warm coats last year.
