SOUTH PORTLAND — Library patrons with overdue materials will have their fines forgiven from Dec. 1-15 if they donate requested nonperishable food items in the annual Food for Fines program.
Food items will be given to the South Portland Food Cupboard, which serves 50 to 60 families and individuals each week at St. John the Evangelist Church on Main Street.
Fines for overdue, undamaged materials will be waived, and requested food items must be delivered in person to the main library on Broadway or the branch on Wescott Road.
Some toiletries will also be accepted. For a complete list of items sought visit http://southportlandlibrary.com/p881/.
