BRUNSWICK — Ruth Clarke Faulstich, 107, died Aug. 8 at her home at Sunnybrook Village.
On July 13, 1903, she was born in Springfield, Mass., a daughter of Clara Brown and John Darling Clarke.
She graduated from Central High School and Bay Path Business School.
On Feb. 19, 1927, she married Frederick H. Faulstich, in a double-ring ceremony with her sister, Cressa Clarke, and Ralph Beaudry.
Over the years she and her husband traveled extensively throughout the United States and Mexico, sharing many wonderful and exciting experiences.
Her life was dedicated to being a wife, mother, community volunteer, and active church member of Mittineague Congregational Church, where she served as a deaconess for many years.
With great fortitude, she was serving church suppers at the Eastern States Exposition, doing her own yard work and snow blowing well into her 90s.
Due to her failing eyesight and hearing, she moved from her home of 66 years in Massachusetts to Sunnybrook Village in 2006.
She lived her last years as she lived her entire life – in good humor, with grace and dignity.
She was predeceased by her husband Fred, a son, Charles J. Faulstich, two sisters, Cressa Beaudry and Thelma Rising, and her brother, John Clarke.
Surviving are her sister, Alta Sobuta; daughter, Sally Clifford; granddaughter, Abby Becker and her husband Jay; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara R. Faulstich.
A committal service will be held at the Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield, Mass., at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made to Mittineague Congregational Church UCC, 1840 Westfield St., West Springfield, MA 01089; or to the YWCA of Western Massachusetts, One Clough St., Springfield, MA 01118, Att: Battered Woman’s Shelter; or to Hospice Volunteers in Mid Coast Maine, 45 Baribeau Dr., Brunswick, ME 04011.
