POWNAL — Ruth A. Purinton, 79, died Sept. 6.
She was born in Brunswick, Sept. 21, 1929, daughter of Louis and Mildred (Spaulding) Catlin and attended Brunswick schools.
In 1962, she married Robert Dudley Purinton in Lewiston.
Most of her career was spent working in the restaurant industry in Lewiston, Freeport and Yarmouth.
She enjoyed crafts, cooking and was a member of the North Pownal Methodist Church and the Freeport Elders Association.
Surviving are her husband Robert of Pownal; her son Michael Williams of Machias; two sisters, Geraldine Waring of Pennsylvania, Lucille Mitchell of Brunswick; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 at Varney Cemetery, Pine Stree, Brunswick.
