BRUNSWICK — Ruby Marie Springer, 96, died June 7 at Parkview Adventist Medical Center.

She was born in Wellington on May 31, 1913, the daughter of Charles and Miriam (Oikle) Faulkner.

In 1932, She married John A. Springer in Monmouth, where they lived for 60 years before retiring to Brunswick to be close to their daughter and her family.

She was a caring person who loved to cook and share with others.

For many years, she worked as a housekeeper until her retirement at age 62. She then devoted her time to her church, gardening, baking and enjoying her family.

She spent many years as director of community services at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Auburn and later in Brunswick until she was 91 and could no longer go to the Center, but continued helping by mending at home. A devote Christian, she believed her purpose in life was to help others.

In her early years, she enjoyed fishing with her husband at Tacoma Lakes.

She was predeceased by her husband John in 1994, and by 12 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Gowell and her husband, Perley of Brunswick; four grandchildren, Kelli Springer, Jeffery Gowell, Julie Gowell and Christopher Gowell; 3 great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Gabrielle, and Guinevere; two foster children, Clayton Cotton of N.H. and Edward Lawton of Sun City, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., June 20, at the Brunswick Seventh-day Adventist Church, 333 Maine St., Brunswick.
