TOPSHAM — Ruby Louise Williams, 38, died Feb. 16 with her family by her side at Mid Coast Hospital. 

On July 4, 1971, she was born in Bath, the daughter of Patricia Williams, and attended local schools, graduating from Morse High School in 1990.

From 1985-1990 she participated in the Special Olympics and represented Maine in the International Special Olympics held in Indiana, where she won a silver medal in swimming. 

She enjoyed life to the fullest and loved to make people laugh. Always keeping busy, she worked as a babysitter, cleaned houses or spent time on her computer and with her dogs. 

She is survived by her mother Patricia Williams of Topsham; three sisters, Pamela Williams of Topsham, Dawn Ostranda and her husband James of Bath, and Kelly McGuire of Topsham, and a brother, Royce Gilliam and his wife Missy of Topsham; several aunts and uncles; cousins; and nieces and nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge Sherry Carr of Vermont who helped care for Ruby.

A celebration of life will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21 at the American Legion, Toby Smith Post 21, 10 Congress Ave., Bath.
