BRUNSWICK — Royal Delesednier Farmer, 75, died March 2 at Mid Coast Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Born May 25, 1934 in Lubec, he was the youngest of 12 children of Aubrey and Lovina Farmer.

In 1952 he graduated from Lubec High School.

On Nov. 12, 1953, he married Mary Irene Campbell.
 
Shortly after moving to Brunswick he began his 43-year career as a bus driver for the Town of Brunswick, until he retired in 2002.

He took great pride and joy in driving the bus and loved seeing the kids each day. In 1993 he earned the Maine State Bus Driver of the Year Award. 

Known for his great sense of humor, he had a passion for the Red Sox, and in his earlier years, enjoyed motorcycles and family trips each summer to Lubec.

A regular at Captain Mike’s restaurant, he and his fiancee Rita could be found there almost every Friday.

He was predeceased by his wife Mary, four brothers and six sisters.

He is survived by his fiancee Rita MacElman of Brunswick; his seven children and their spouses, Debra and Donald Caron of Bowdoin, Mark and Brenda Farmer of Topsham, Michael Farmer and his girlfriend Mary Ponziani of Brunswick, Barbara and Tharon Bowley of Bowdoinham, Pamela and Frank Sodergren of Bowdoin, Kelley and Paul Favreau of Topsham and Martin and Elizabeth Farmer of Woolwich; a sister, Elaine Leavitt of Lubec; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and cousins.

Memorial services were held last weekend.
