FREEPORT — The Maine Department of Transportation is paving a 1.3-mile portion of Route 1 from Exit 24 of Interstate 295 to the Brunswick town line.

MDOT began work on April 29 and expects the project to be completed by the first week of June.

Minor traffic delays are expected, but the road won’t be closed. Flaggers will control one-lane traffic through the area. The paving, which costs $550,000, is being done by Shaw Brothers of Gorham.
