Traffic was backed up for several miles Monday morning on southbound Interstate 295 after a tractor-trailer caught fire at approximately 8:30 near Exit 20 in Freeport. One lane of the highway was closed for about two hours. Here, Freeport Deputy Chief Eric Sylvain extinguishes remaining hot spots in the cab of the truck.Freeport firefighter Dan Brown extinguishes the fire from inside the truck cab, some of which has melted away.The inside of the truck cab after the fire was extinguished. The driver escaped without injury.
