YARMOUTH — The Yarmouth Rotary Club and Bath Savings Bank will hold a 4-Way Test Speaking Contest for high school sophomores and juniors at North Yarmouth Academy on March 25 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Applications are open to students at Greely, North Yarmouth Academy and Yarmouth High Schools, and homeschooled students.
The purpose of the contest is to explore the use of ethics and to examine the Rotary’s principle of “Service Above Self.”
Students will deliver a speech on any topic, but it must include the four points of the Rotary 4-Way Test: Is it the truth, is it fair to all, will it build goodwill and better friendships and will it be beneficial to all concerned.
The winner of the club level speech competition will win $100, and move on to the area level competition. The area winner will compete against other students at the district level competition in June.
For an application and information packet, students can contact Michael Gengras at NYA, Jason Curry at Greely High School, and Paula Vincenzi at Yarmouth High School.
The application deadline is Tuesday, March 10.
