CAPE ELIZABETH — Rosemarie Willitts, 69, died Dec. 21 at Maine Medical Center.
Born in Riverside, N.J., she was a daughter of Elwood and Gertrude O’Brien McGarrigle, and attended Riverside schools.
For three years she served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
On Oct. 19, 1968, she married Norris Albert Willitts, Jr., and lived in Florida for 35 years.
For the past four years she has lived in Cape Elizabeth, where she was was an active parishioner at St. Bartholomew Church, served as a Eucharistic Minister and visited sick members of the parish.
She also volunteered her time with My Sister’s Keeper, a mentoring program to assist women reentering the workforce after incarceration.
She was predeceased by her husband in 2003 and a brother, James Terrence McGarrigle, in 2004.
Survivors include two sons, Terrence Willitts of Deltona, Fla., and Sean Willitts and his wife Christina of Cape Elizabeth; four stepchildren; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Dec. 27 at St. Bartholomew Church.
Arrangements are by Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State St., Portland.
