BRUNSWICK — Roland Lucien Brillant, 76, died Aug. 7 at the Mid Coast Senior Health Center.

Born in Brunswick, May 14, 1935, the son of Lucien and Loretta (Bernier) Brillant, he attended Brunswick schools and later earned his GED in 1992.

On Oct. 18, 1958, he married Cynthia Richards and over the years was a devoted, loving husband, tirelessly caring for her for many years during her failing health.

For 26 years he worked at Bath Iron Works, retiring as a production control coordinator. While working at BIW, he also held a second job working at Grossman’s. After retiring from BIW, he worked at Shaw’s Supermarket for 18 years.

He enjoyed watching New England sports teams and took pleasure in gardening, woodworking and watching wildlife. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren play sports in high school.

For many years he was an on-call firefighter for the Brunswick Fire Department and a member of the Topsham Grange and The Maine Street Baptist Church.

His wife of 48 years, Cynthia, predeceased him on June 13, 2007.

Surviving is a son, Michael Brillant of Durham, and two daughters, Donna Lavigne and her husband Mark of Bowdoinham, and Maria Morris and her husband Rob of West Bath; a sister, Lucy Earl of Brunswick, and a brother, Robert Brillant of Topsham; four grandchildren, Hope and Courtney Lavigne, Laura Thomas, and Lynn Morris; four great-grandchildren, Austin Perry, Alexis Hultman, Micah and Boyd Thomas.

A visiting hour was scheduled from 2 to 3 p.m., Friday, Aug. 12, at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
