NORTH YARMOUTH — Roland J. Liberty, 88, of North Yarmouth died on Sept. 24 at Mercy Hospital in Portland after two months of declining health. He was born in North Yarmouth on April 30, 1924, a son of Phillip and Louisa (Therrian) Liberty.

Liberty worked as an attendant at Pineland, formerly Pownal State School, for 20 years before working another 20 years at Baxter School in the maintenance department. He enjoyed playing the guitar and was a member of a group that played for Saturday night dances at the Grange Hall in Buxton.

Liberty will be remembered as a peaceful, loving man who was a devoted husband to his wife of 67 years, Catherine Liberty of North Yarmouth.

He is survived by his wife; his sister, Loretta Ripley and her husband, Howard, of North Raymond; and niece, Judith Powers, of Gill, Mass.

Services will be private and burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery on Route 115 in North Yarmouth.
