BRUNSWICK — Roland G. Vaillancourt, 83, died Aug. 8 at Freeport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Lewiston on May 4, 1926, son of William and Clara (Langelier) Vaillancourt and attended local schools.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in Europe with a reconnaissance regiment.
On May 30, 1950, he married Laurette Dumais of Lewiston.
He started his career by operating a home electronics service business before working in the aerospace industry developing early satellites at Avco Corporation in Lowell, Mass. Later on, he worked as a printer in Nashua, N.H.
In 1988, he and his wife retired to Brunswick.
His interests included home landscaping, home improvement projects and playing the piano.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Laurette of Brunswick; son Gerald and his wife Pamela of Wethersfield, Conn., daughter Joline Esposito and husband Vincent of Heber City, Utah; sister Stella Chouinard of Beauport, Quebec; granddaughter Lindsey Vaillancourt of Wethersfield, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held earlier this week.
Arrangements are by Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick.
