BRUNSWICK — Roland Deschenes, 92, died Nov. 13 at Winship Green Nursing Center with his wife Rosalie by his side.

On Feb. 25, 1917, he was born in Brunswick, a son of Joseph and Marie Jeanne (Bois) Deschenes.

He attended St. John’s School and was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church.

Over the years he worked for various employers in southern and mid-coast Maine, including a stint as a driller at the South Portland Shipyard during World War II. In 1981 he retired from the Keena Corp in Brunswick.

He was married to Simonne Caron from 1939 until her death in 1956. In 1958 he married Rosalie Lachance.

His interests included watching football games, gardening, taking country walks and day trips with his wife.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Matilda St. Laurent and Cecile Rossignol, two brothers, Raymond Deschenes and Gerard Deschenes, and brother-in-law, Raymond Lavoie.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Rosalie Deschenes; sister-in-law, Rolande Lavoie; nieces Cecilia Lachance and Valentine Welling; great-nephew Geoffrey Lachance and his wife Lynne; and many other nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held earlier this week.

Arrangements are by Demers-Desmond Funeral Home, 34 Cushing St., Brunswick.
