BRUNSWICK — Roger R. Roy, 51, of Bowdoin, died July 14 at Bodwell House, in Brunswick.

??He was born Aug. 24, 1963, to Robert and Frances Roy.??

A professional chef, Roger started his career in 1982 at Clare’s Dolphin Restaurant and worked there until its closure. He then worked at Pizza and More, in Bath, until the mid-1990s. Roy went on to cook at Riverside Sport Club, from which he eventually retired because of his progressing illness.

In his free time, Roy enjoyed hunting and most of all, being with his family.

He was predeceased by both of his parents.?

Roy is survived by his wife of 32 years, Janie Newton Roy; a son, Paul Roy; and two daughters, Ashley and Hannah Roy, all of Bowdoin.??

There will be no service. However, a celebration of Roy’s life will be held Sunday, July 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the former Riverside Sports Club, now Club 737, at 737 Washington St., Bath.??

In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations, which can be made at Androscoggin Savings Bank in care of the Roger Roy Memorial Fund.
