TOPSHAM — Roger M. Curran, 63, died unexpectedly Sept. 10 at his home.

Born in Lewiston on June 5, 1947, he was a son of Gerard and Blandine Beaulieu Curran.

After he retired from a long career with Bath Iron Works, he and his wife Betti continued their lifelong devotion to community service and helping those in need, especially animals, and established the non-profit, Coastal Maine Great Dane Rescue.

In his spare time he performed wedding ceremonies and delighted in the joys of others.

His quick wit, sense of humor, and genuine good nature will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched.

He is survived by his wife Betti Curran; two daughters, Valerie Szewelanczyk and her husband, Walter, and Lisa Reed; a granddaughter, Emily Gallant; two nieces, Halliday and Travy Moncure; extended family; and many friends.
