BRUNSWICK — Rodney G. Cook, 69, died peacefully from lung cancer on April 17 with his wife Sheryl by his side.

He was born in Farmington, April 26, 1940, a son of George Richard Cook, Jr. and Thelma Elizabeth (Merrill) Cook. 

In 1960 he graduated from Farmington High School. Before serving in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1969 he worked on the family farm on Bailey Hill and at G.H. Bass Shoe. 

On April 15, 1966, he married Sheryl Hagelin of Avon.

In 1972 they moved to Brunswick, where they raised their two daughters and managed their gas station business on Pleasant Street. 

He later worked for Irving Oil Corporation and Bowdoin College before retiring in 1995.

Family and friends will remember him for his love of his family and his dogs.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sheryl of Brunswick; two daughters, Stephanie Marzolf of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Jennifer Sitarz of Bowdoin; two grandsons, Alex and Raymond Sitarz of Bowdoin; his brother Laurence Cook of Farmington, two sisters, Shirley Mason and her husband Robert of Farmington, and Gail Pond and her husband Thomas of Farmington.

At his request there will be no funeral services.

Arrangements are by Kincer Funeral Home, 130 Pleasant St. Richmond.
