BAILEY ISLAND — Robert W. Nahf, Jr., 73, died April 21 at Sedgewood Commons in Falmouth with his wife of 48 years, Mary Ann, by his side.

For 29 years he was a professional photographer in Watchung, N.J. 

He was a committee member of Boy Scout Troop 35 for 15 years, where he shared his expertise in knot tying and wood carving.

In his spare time he loved working with wood, from building a simple bird feeder to a complete set of cabinets.

Prior to moving to Maine in 2000, he and his wife lived in North Plainfield, N.J., with their children, Lisa and Robert.

Surviving are his wife Mary Ann; his daughter, Lisa A., Nahf and her husband, Bart Vanhoutte and grandchildren, Bram and Kate Vanhoutte of Rotselaar, Belgium; and his son, Robert W. Nahf, III and his wife Corinne Strickland and grandchildren, Avery and Miles Nahf and Tessa Nahf Strickland of Albuquerque, N.M.; his sister Joan Herdegen and her husband Richard of Bailey Island.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 15,  at Johnson Field, Mackerel Cove, Bailey Island.
