TOPSHAM — Robert J. Meeks, 68, died at home Aug. 1.
Born Jan. 28, 1943, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Carroll W. and Mary J. (Wolfe) Meeks.
For 35 years he worked as a truck driver for Hartt Transportation, Pioneer Plastics and Carl Subler Trucking. He loved driving a truck and earned perfect driving awards over the years, travelling millions of miles without accidents.
He loved animals, especially dogs, cats and birds, and also enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys (Kolste) Meeks of Topsham; a son, Michael Meeks and wife Tina of Staten Island, N.Y., three daughters, Alison Meeks DiTomaso of Staten Island, N.Y., Lisa Meeks of Massachusetts, and Elizabeth Meeks of Topsham; a sister, Patricia Meeks of Staten Island, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Stephanie, Michael and Erica; several nieces and nephews; and cousins.
Visiting hours were scheduled from 7-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at St. John’s the Baptist Church-All Saints Parish, Pleasant St., Brunswick. Burial will follow in Varney Cemetery, Brunswick.
