RICHMOND — Robert E. York, 36, died on May 1 after a long battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

York was born Feb. 21, 1976 in Augusta and was a lifelong resident of Brunswick and Topsham. He attended Mt. Ararat High School.

Prior to his diagnosis in 2009, York worked at Coombs Landscaping and enjoyed spending time with his friends.

York was predeceased by his grandfather, Earl Lowery, and his mother, Mary Anne E. York.

He is survived by his grandmother, Priscilla Lowery; father, Orland V. York; aunts and uncles Donna and Norman Lowery, and Beverly and Julian Lowery; sisters Mary Anne P. Bartlett and her boyfriend, Neil MacDonald, Donna L. and her husband, David Inman, Lee Anne E. and her husband, Eric Terry; brothers David W. Bartlett, Phillip J. Bartlett, David York and Roger York; nieces Mary Ruth Robshaw, Kateryna MacDonald, Brittany M. Lasley and Crystal Leavitt; nephews Tyler S. Terry and Ethan C. Terry; and great niece, Jaelynn N. Robshaw.

A memorial service was held on May 5 at Brackett Funeral Home.
