HARPSWELL — Robert A. “Bob” Alexander, 73, died Sept. 30 at Mid Coast Hospital.

On Dec. 11, 1935, he was born in Brunswick, the son of Roland and Mae Hatch Alexander.

After attending Brunswick schools, he entered the Army in 1954 during the Korean War.

On Oct. 11, 1957, he married Joanne Miller.

For 20 years, he worked as a commercial fisherman before opening his own construction business until he retired in 2005.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, snowmobiling, and hunting. He looked forward to his annual hunting trip in November to his camp at Black Mountain.

He enjoyed staying busy, tending to his yard, cooking, and spending quality time with his family.

Survivors are his wife Joanne of Harpswell; two daughters, Dianna Kelly Alexander Smith and husband Tim of Georgetown, and Alison Brassard of Bath; sister Lucille Hill of Paris; four grandchildren, Nicholas Gilliam and fiance Danielle of Phippsburg, Jason Gilliam of Brunswick, Jenna Holbrook and companion Charles Messer of Brunswick, Ryan Hillbrook and her companion Jason Hart of Bath; three great-grandchildren, Austin Pratt and Alexander Holbrook, both of Bath and Hunter Daniel Messer of Brunswick.

Memorial services were held last week.

Arrangements are by Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick.
