CAPE ELIZABETH — Richard Paul Chamberlain, 52, of Cape Elizabeth died at his home on Nov. 14.

He was born Nov. 20, 1960, in Biddeford, the son of Paul and Rita Chamberlain. He grew up in Cape Elizabeth and graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School in 1979.

After high school, he attended the University of Maine at Orono and joined the fraternity of his older brother Robert, Sigma Phi Epsilon. He later transferred to and graduated from the University of Southern Maine, earning a degree in history. He worked for many years in grocery store management for Hannaford Bros.

Chamberlain loved reading and movies, and was a Civil War history buff and a die-hard Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics fan. He loved his friends and enjoyed spending time with them, many of them lifelong ones. 

He was predeceased by his mother and his brother, Robert.

He is survived by his father; son, Joshua Chamberlain; sister, Marian Chamberlain and her children, Susan Fasulo and Jennifer Fasulo Facey; sister-in-law, Mary Chamberlain and her children, Emily Goodman and Laura Chamberlain; brother, David Chamberlain and wife Bridget and David’s children, Drew and Paige Chamberlain; and by his beloved cats, Elfie and Basha.

Friends and family are invited to visiting hours on Friday, Nov. 22, from 3-7 p.m. at A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave., Portland. A funeral will be held there Saturday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. Casual tropical, Jimmy Buffett-parrothead attire is encouraged at the service.

Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Cape Elizabeth. A reception will then be held at the Lions Club Hall near the cemetery on Route 77.
