BRUNSWICK — Richard C. Washburn, 61, died unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 7, at his home.

A son of Ernest E. and Marion J. Washburn, he was born in Brunswick on July 4, 1949, and attended local schools.  

After serving in the U.S. Marines, he operated his own business, including a laundry service in Brunswick and later on, built custom furniture. For the past 25 years he worked as a self-employed building contractor.

On June 2, 1972, he married Linda Pennell in Brunswick.

He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Schmidt.

Survivors include three daughters, Amanda Gould and her husband Aaron of Lisbon Falls, Lisa Washburn of Westbrook and Stephanie Washburn of Bath, and two sons, Peter Washburn and Mark Washburn, both of Bath; a brother, Clifford Washburn of Portland, and two sisters, Jean Tate of Bath and Judy Hamlin of Wiscasset; and four grandchildren, Isaac, Dustin, Bryaunnah and Cody.

Interment will be at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15 at Webster Cemetery in Freeport, followed by a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. at The Lisbon Falls Baptist Church at 555 Lisbon St., Lisbon Falls.

Arrangements are by Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick.
