TOPSHAM — Richard A. “Pete” Burt, 85, of Amenity Manor, died Sept. 17 at Mid Coast Hospital. 

He was born in Park Ridge, N.J., Sept. 25, 1923, the son of Chester A. Jr. and Esther M. (Puasley) Burt and attended local schools. 

In 1953 he graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Air Force. He completed 35 missions over Europe and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with Clusters, and the Mediterranean Theatre Ribbon with four Battle Stars.

On Jan. 11, 1963, he married Ruth Monroe. 

After living and working in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, he moved to Maine in 1996.

He was predeceased by his wife Ruth and his son Richard.

Surviving him are several daughters; a stepdaughter, Barbara Noetzel of Denton, Texas; grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and a sister.

There will be no services at this time. 

Arrangements are by Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick.
