BRUNSWICK — Six restaurants and pubs will donate a portion of their Veterans Day weekend sales to a fund that will help provide companion dogs to Maine military veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder or traumatic brain injuries.

Embrace a Vet is launching the initiative, called Paws for Peace, on Nov. 10 and 11 at participating establishments in Bath, Brunswick, Freeport and Bangor.

Participating restaurants include Benchwarmers Restaurant & Sports Pub, Byrnes Irish Pub, The Great Impasta, Henry and Marty, Joshua’s Restaurant and Tavern and Scarlet Begonias in Brunswick; Admiral Steakhouse and Byrnes Irish Pub in Bath; and Azure Cafe in Freeport.

Embrace a Vet, based in Harpswell, aims to provide cost-free support services to Maine veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder or traumatic brain injuries, along with their families.
