TOPSHAM — Renee L. Vermette, 76, died unexpectedly Dec. 9 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick. 

Born in Brunswick on Jan. 26, 1933, he was a son of Lucien and Yvonne Vermette. 

On Sept. 24, 1955, he married Joan Hadley and made their home in Topsham.
 
For 43 years, he worked at Bath Iron Works as foreman for the Sheet Metal Shop until he retired in 1994.

His hobbies included playing his Technics organ, woodworking, daily crossword puzzles, his pets including his prized ducks, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. 

An avid Red Sox fan, he never missed a game and loved going to Fenway Park.

He was predeceased by his daughter Noreen, and his sister Lucy Hayes.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joan Vermette; his brother, Dominic and Gerri Vermette of Topsham; his four children, Kathy and Joe Furrow of Brunswick, Mike Vermette of Yarmouth, Jeff and Shelly Vermette of Topsham, Stacy and Todd Milburn of Sanatoga, Penn.; and nine grandchildren.

Memorial services were held last weekend.

Arrangements are by Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick.
