WEST BATH — Regina Paradis Schmitt, 82, died on April 19 after a brief illness.

She was born Regina Jolk in Giessen, Germany, and was raised in Weisbaden. She married Clement Paradis in 1957; he died in 1981.

For 27 years she was the secretary for the foreign language department at Bowdoin College. In 1988 she married Albert R. Schmitt. It is a testament to her kind nature and generous spirit that she was always surrounded by good friends. She will be missed by many.

Schmitt is survived by her husband; her three children, Daniel Paradis, Simone Hanson and Andrew Paradis; four grandsons; three stepchildren, Heidi Schmitt Erspamer, Peter Scmitt and Stephanie Savastano; three stepgrandchildren; and a sister, Monika Baker of Naples, Fla.

Visiting hours were held on April 26 at Stetson’s Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m.  April 27 at  St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Church-All Saints Parish in Brunswick.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program, 84A Union St., Brunswick, ME 04011.
