Portland residents Noah Ashby, 8, and his mother, Heather Ashby, were among more than 100 demonstrators who gathered in Lobsterman’s Park Monday to protest the separation of families seeking asylum at U.S. border crossings. As a former foster parent, Ashby said she was certain the children being held away from their parents would be traumatized by the process.
