SCARBOROUGH —The town and Visiting Nurses Association Home Health & Hospice will be holding a regional preschool H1N1 vaccination clinic from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9 at St. Maximilian Church on Black Point Road.
The clinic is open only to children age 6 months to 5 years who have not yet received their first dose of the vaccine. Booster shots for children who have already received their first H1N1 inoculation, and seasonal flu vaccines will not be available at this clinic.
The Maine Center for Disease Control recommends H1N1 vaccinations for all children, including those who have already experienced flu-like symptoms. Although the nurses won’t know what vaccine formulation will be available until the day of the clinic, they will administer the appropriate dosage of intranasal or injectable based on each child’s age and health history.
Two consent forms, found on the town’s Web site, scarborough.me.us, must be filled out by a parent or guardian and brought to the clinic. The forms will also be available at the Public Safety Dispatch center, 246 Route 1. For more information, contact Scarborough Public Safety at 883-6361.
