I would like to thank and praise the Yarmouth police, rescue and public works personnel for their service to us during the Feb. 22 snow storm.
My husband, who uses a wheelchair, was getting into bed just as we lost our power. He fell to the floor, fortunately was not hurt, but I could not lift him up. At 11:30 p.m., with about 10 inches of snow on the ground and no lights to guide them, I hesitated to call the police, but we knew we needed help.
Within 10 minutes, two police officers arrived and were followed shortly by three members of the rescue team. They had been preceded by a town plow truck that enabled them to get up our hill. Despite the hour and weather conditions, they were all very pleasant and helpful.
How lucky we are to have folks like this in Yarmouth.
