FALMOUTH — A Pownal man was arrested for allegedly stalking his girlfriend last month after police discovered him hiding in the back seat of her car.

The incident began the afternoon of April 24 when Brian M. Tuttle, 23, of Hodson Road, Pownal, allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in the parking lot at 204 U.S. Route 1. When police responded to the assault, Tuttle couldn’t be found, according to Lt. John Kilbride.

About two hours later, police returned to the scene for a follow-up investigation and discovered Tuttle hiding in the car.

“We’re not quite sure what his intent was,” Kilbride said, “but he laid in the back seat for quite some time … waiting for her to get out of work.”

Kilbride said Tuttle didn’t have any weapons on him, but they found a knife in the car.

“She said it wasn’t hers, but we can’t prove it was his,” Kilbride said.

Tuttle did not resist arrest and was charged with stalking, domestic assault and terrorizing, Kilbride said. He was also arrested on a warrant for a theft charge in Scarborough.
