PORTLAND — As the city’s oldest cemetery celebrates its 350th anniversary, a series of walking tours will be offered July 1-Oct. 14.
Diane Brakeley of Spirits Alive said 50-minute tours will be held at 11 a.m. each Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, and every Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
The tours will be led by trained volunteers who will highlight the history, historical figures and gravestone art in the cemetery, established in 1668 at the base of Munjoy Hill.
Tour admissions are $10 for adults, $5 for students and visitors 65 and older. Children under 12 are admitted at no charge.
Brakeley said private tours can also be arranged; she can be contacted at tours@spiritsalive.org.
