PORTLAND — A $29.7 million bond to replace the Fred P. Hall Elementary School goes to voters April 5.
Most of the costs will be reimbursed by the state, since replacing the school at 23 Orono Road is on the Department of Education’s Major Capital Construction Approved Projects List. Approximately $1.4 million in borrowing will be repaid locally.
Almost all polling places will be open for the special election. But residents who usually vote at the Portland Expo are being sent to the Howard C. Reiche Community School at 166 Brackett St. All polling places will be open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m.
If voters approve the project and plans go as scheduled, the new school will be built to hold nearly 600 students and will open in 2018.
