The Our Lady of Hope boys’ basketball team from Portland had a strong weekend at the New England U-12 (grade six) championships in Foxboro, Mass., April 14-15. The boys defeated teams from New Hamphire, Vermont and Massachusetts before falling to Worcester, Mass., 49-45, in the Silver Bracket finals.
“We proved we could compete with any team in New England and I’m very proud of all the boys,” said coach Peter Buckley. “The team will break for baseball season before considering a bid to AAU Nationals in July.”
